Does it smell like any of those things? The Rhodia plant is west of WBHS.
Could be. There are some pretty serious chemicals listed here. Zinc caught my eye, zinc poisoning is no joke. Had friend that was welder had them welding/tacking galvanized angle iron. Breathing fumes for just one day and ended up with zinc poisoning almost died before I could get them back to GA after removing from small Tennessee hospital where company took this person. What in the world is a European Co. doing in Winder? Wonder who owns the real estate? Someone is making some major money off this.Friends and neighbors there are some dangerous chemicals being made and released in our city, what the heck now i know why the odd symptoms after working outside and inhaling this all day.
I got a reply saying the plant doesn't produce anything that would have a metallic taste.
It's someone if it's not them, and it needs to be looked into. I sent this on to our region's EPA branch. Hopefully they can identify the source and help whoever's responsible clear it up.
Thank you so much! Found out there are others in community that have been reporting smell since May 2009, recent reports of making people ill from fumes, and of this smell around Midland Ave.I was on Midland Ave. during AM of the metallic taste in mouth, came by the Harrison Poultry Inc.( Feed Mill),also HP in Bethlehem. I checked the EPA and have print outs ( current reporting) of five Industries in Winder that are in close proximity. I have Facility Waste Transfer Reports and other release reports such as: RCRA Landfills, other landfills, surface water discharges, Land Treatment/ Application Farming, Discharges to POTW- Publicly Owned Treatment Works such as Cedar Creek WPCP,Miles Patrick Rd.Will follow with list of chemicals, elements, metals and compounds used by these local Industries

Guidance for reporting Toxic Chemicals:
Pesticides and Other Persistent
Bioaccumulative Toxic (PBT) Chemicals
do any native or long time Winder residents remember J.H. 'Benny" Summerour whom passed away on October 29, 2011 at 91 years of age. I have link to Johns Manville Final Determination: On April 8, 2003 Johns Manville International, Inc. submitted an application to revise their Title V air quality permit to operate JM's existing facility near Winder, GA. On May12,2004, the Division issued a Preliminary Determination stating that the facility's planned retrofit to the raw material handling equipmwnt to allow the inclusion of an oxidative-reduction agent in the raw materials being added to the glass melters for Line # 106, should be approved. the Preliminary Determination contained a draft Title V Quality Permit amendment allowing the addition of this reducing agent into line#106. This proposed change is considered a " change in method of operation," Page 5 of paragraph #4. The change in emmissions of criteria pollutants, due to the proposed CHANGE IN THE METHOD OF OPERATION, will also include a very minute increase in the emmissions of particulate matter less tha 10 micrometers in aerodynamic diameter (PM10) and Sulfur Dioxide (SO2). SO2 emissions result from reducing sulfur trioxide(SO3) to SO2,( page 2 of report).Citizen #1, Public hearing, June14,2004." The way I understand it, the reason for the request...is to extend the life of the electrodes. The Environmental Defense Score Card ranked Johns Manville the dirtiest in Barrow County.( page#3 of report). Link below:
