Spotlight on Education in Barrow....again.

Take Me To Post Comment Form

My fellow Conservatives,
Well, it is once again time to look forward to
this spring's Primary Elections for The Barrow
County Board of Education seats that are up
for grabs.

As many of you know, I had the privilege and
honor to be one of the candidates who
participated in The 2010 Dist.7 BOE race, finishing
2nd to my good friend Dan Cromer. It was my
first experience running for public office of
any kind, and it was a great experience!

One of the many highlights that I experienced
as a candidate that was most rewarding,
was getting out and meeting parents, educators,
students, and concerned community members
who freely shared their hopes and dreams for the
future of Barrow County Schools. Having said
that, my Christian moral upbringing will
not allow me to share some of the more
" colorful " language that was used to
describe the feelings of some in Barrow who
we're less than happy with the overall
performance of The BOE, and the system
in general.

By in large, most of the comments I received were
positive in nature. There were concerns about
having more access to Board Members, to share
their ideas, etc. Other concerns mentioned
were eliminating Teacher Furlough Days to
0, and voting to ask for raises for Teachers.
A major concern of many I spoke with was
spending system dollars to improve the
"Teacher-Student" learning dynamic as a top
priority. Things like Teachers having to pay
out of their own pockets for basic supplies
related to classroom instruction, were very
hot topics. I appreciate all the folks who
contributed to the conversation during the
campaign.

In recent days Gov. Deal has offered a budget
that at will include a discussion to eliminate
all current "Teacher Furlough Days" in GA,
as well as calling for new pay raises for
Teachers. I support 100%,this forward thinking
initiative by Gov. Deal, to offer the much needed
financial infusion to the ranks of GA Teachers.

In closing, I am asking everyone who is an
Education supporter, to contact your State
Representative, and ask them to support
Gov. Deal's budget requests for all Georgia
Teachers...........

Until Next Time..........from The Conservative
Corner

U.S. Must Meet ISIS Threat Now
September 03, 2014
Fellow Conservatives, Like many of you,I have watched in horror,as ISIS radical terrorists, kill innocent civilians, and journalists in various parts of The Middle East, with a smug smile on their collective faces. In their obvious delusion, they somehow think that they are justified in killing anyone, anywhere, because they ...

U.S. Must Support Israel Now.
August 13, 2014
Fellow Conservatives, It is a down right shame that we have a President who has not only turned his back on his responsibilities to the Constitution, but now seems determined to de-stabilize our long standing friendship with our closest ally and friend, Israel. Our Foreign Policy is all but non-existent, ...
