McBride Erroneously Announced Football Contest Winner, Ford Crowned Rightful Winner
I would like to take this opportunity to apologize to the readers of the Barrow County News – especially those who compete in the Football Contest each week – and throw a penalty flag at my feet.This past week I graded the contest entries – all six dozen of them – and came up with the winner being Jim McBride. Subsequently I listed his name as the winner on this week’s contest entry form. After the sports editor double-checked my calculations it turned out that I had missed counting one of McBride’s guesses as incorrect, and his actual score was 16 out of 20.With each entry containing 20 games that would make it approximately 1,400 individual games that I graded… and I missed one. I messed up. Big time. What can you expect from a UGA art major?The actual winner, as correctly stated in the football contest round up, was Joe Ford, the legendary voice of the Dacula High School Falcons. Congratulations, Joe!
