Worried about internet usage

I believe the county commissioners are a little too paranoid about the internet. Technically speaking, any website on the internet can be classified as a webblogs and "potentially unproductive." With that being said, let's save some taxpayer money, stop buying new computers and to make some money, sale the ones you currently have. This will remove the temptation for the over abundance of government workers to play on the internet. Who knows, maybe some work would get done if you got rid of the computers.

In all seriousness, if you are concerened about "unproductive" websites, it would be easier to have the IT department remove Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, and whatever else the county is using as it's internet browsers from all the computers.

The trouble is that a lot of government functions are done through internet-based portals.

You'd have to pay someone to develop a user-side interface. That typically costs a lot more money than a simple web-based frontend, even with something brain-dead simple like python and wxwindows.

You will have to read the article on the News side of this website to understand the facetiousness of the post. If the commissioners are worried about what employees may read in the local blogs, then perhaps they themselves should seek other employment.
