Neither rain nor sleet nor dark of night will keep Santa Claus from making his scheduled visits – especially a special round-the-world trip on Christmas Eve. So while the rainy and cold weather of Saturday hampered the plans for outdoor events in Statham, including a bonfire and lighting of the Christmas tree, it was warm and cozy inside the Statham Community Center and Statham Library. Santa greeted youngsters in the library and visited with bright-eyed, and sometimes teary-eyed, children and passed out candy canes and sage advice about being good year-round. The Statham First Baptist Church and Just Theatre provided musical entertainment and the Statham Business Association coordinated events and refreshments.
